Description

The El Primero Striking 10th is the watch that allowed the El Primero movement (in this case the El Primero 4052 B) to reach its full potential by accurately measuring 10ths of a second. Yes, you read that correctly. This watch accurately measures 10ths of a second with a chronograph seconds hand that completes a full revolution around the dial at the very rapid rate of once every 10 seconds. This watch is the ultimate El Primero!

This is the limited edition rose gold model, which was limited to 500 pieces. The rose gold case is 42mm in diameter and has a brushed silver dial. The brushed silver dial is complemented by the black outer track that is marked for 10ths of a second and the three black subdials. The hour, minute, and subdial hands are rose gold to match the case, with the hour and minute hand containing SuperLuminova to allow for reading the time in low light environments. The date is indicated at 6 o'clock in a very legible black on white display. All of the above sits behind a raised anti-reflective treated sapphire crystal which will protect the rose gold from scratching. The caseback is also covered by a sapphire crystal, through which one can admire the El Primero movement and clearly see the metallic blue/green colored wheels crafted from silicon specifically for the Striking 10th (due to their lighter weight and increased durability).

The chronograph seconds hand completes one revolution around the dial every 10 seconds, clearly passing markings that designate each 10th of a second, making any elapsed time very simple to read down to the 10th of a second. This is the defining feature of the watch, and the one which gave it its name.

The black strap is alligator over a rubber liner for added resistance to sweat and other moisture. The strap is securely fastened by a rose gold pin buckle featuring the Zenith star logo with a “Z” engraved in it. The strap will fit an 8.5 inch wrist.

The watch is in mint condition, having been worn only a handful of times by the collector who owns it.

Size guide for wristbands

1 | Lug width

The lug width is the width of the strap at the end that is attached to the watch. This is the interior distance between the two lugs (horn-like protrusions) on the watch casing. The strap will fit your watch only if the lug width of the watch is the same width as the strap.

2 | Buckle width

The buckle width is the width of the strap at the buckle end. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the width of the original buckle must be identical to the strap width. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.

3 | Strap length

The strap length is the combined length of the short strap side 3A (without buckle) and the long strap side 3B. For metal straps, the length of the strap including the clasp is measured in the closed position.

4 | Strap thickness

Strap thickness is the height of the strap. Many leather straps thin out towards the buckle end, or “taper”. If you want to keep your watch’s original buckle and replace only the strap, the strap thickness must match the height of the original buckle. For watches with folding clasps, please choose a strap specially made for your particular clasp.
