Description

Our vintage and very rare Jaeger-LeCoultre Mark 11 (XI) was commissioned by the British ministry of defence, for use by RAF Navigators. Featuring a 35mm case with screw down case back, and built to MOD specification, reference 6B/346 was powered by a manually wound calibre 488, considered to be one of the best movements to ever be used in a military watch. Notably this example is presented in good condition, given its age and purpose. The cathedral hands and dial have coeval patination making for a very attractive watch. It is considered that only 2950 Jaeger-LeCoultre Mark 11 (XI) were produced, and delivered between 1948 and 1952, the future orders going to IWC whose similar Mark XI has evolved into the contemporary IWC Pilot range. This case back and movement feature the Broad Arrow (pheon) and the case back features the issue 3459/48. We estimate this example to have entered service between 1948-9.
This would make a very worthy addition to a military or aviation focussed collection.

If certification is already included, you'll receive your certified watch at no additional cost. You pay the purchase price of the watch as usual via our escrow service.
If you book certification for a watch that is not already certified, you pay the purchase price of the watch plus an additional £249 for certification. We will only issue an invoice for the certification if you expressly request one.

All Certified watches are comprehensively checked against specific criteria by a verified watchmaker. This is the only way we can guarantee the authenticity of your watch. The check includes the following:

Functionality check: We test the watch's complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See: How do we define authenticity?

Scope of delivery check: All additional items, such as the original box and papers (if included), are checked for completeness and conformity with the model reference.

Theft check: The watch's serial number is checked against leading stolen watch databases. This ensures that the watch hasn't been stolen or otherwise lost by its rightful owner.

Every watchmaker who certifies watches under the Certified program has to meet certain criteria. In this way, we ensure he or she has suitable qualifications and technical equipment. Through individualized audits, we also ensure that watches are tested exclusively by experts and in accordance with our standards. As the world's leading online marketplace for luxury watches, we want to be as transparent as possible with our users. That's why, as part of the certification process, verified watchmakers individually assess and certify the authenticity of each essential watch component, inspecting them for deviations from the original.

According to our definition of authenticity, a watch is considered authentic if it is either in its original condition (as produced by the manufacturer) or contains no more than two non-original replacement parts free of brand names or logos. Permitted aftermarket replacement parts include the crown, bezel, hands, and push-pieces.

Based on our more than 20 years of experience in the watch industry, we believe that a maximum of two non-branded aftermarket replacement parts does not affect the authenticity of a watch, especially if they play an important role in maintaining the watch's functionality. However, aftermarket parts must be described in the listing. Our verified watchmakers will also note any deviations from the original condition on the certificate of authenticity.

Customized watches or otherwise inauthentic and counterfeit watches are excluded from certification.

If, during certification, the watch is found to contain key replacement parts (e.g., different hands) that do not bear a brand name or logo, we will reach out to you.
You will then have three options:
1. You can accept the certification results and proceed with your purchase. Your watch will be shipped to you within 1-3 business days.
2. You can cancel your purchase. In this case, we will return the watch to the seller and issue a full refund of both the purchase price and the certification fee.
3. We can ask the seller to reduce the purchase price. If you agree to a lower price, we'll pay you the difference after delivery of the watch.

Certified Included is available for selected watches listed with a minimum price of £900. These watches are certified in advance by a verified watchmaker working in cooperation with the dealer. There is no additional cost for this service.
Certified Optional is available as an add-on for selected watches listed with a minimum price of £5,000. For these watches, you can book certification by our in-house watchmakers for an additional charge of £249.

The certificate of authenticity contains information about the make and model of the watch as well as its date of issue. The watch's serial number, production year, and reference number, as well as the Chrono24 transaction (TC) number are included on the certificate. If, during the certification process, the watchmaker notices any deviations from the original in terms of authenticity or replacement parts, these will be listed as additional comments. Only you have access to your digital certificate of authenticity. You can access it in your Chrono24 account.

Together with your Certified watch, you will receive a digital Certificate of Authenticity that includes an Authenticity Guarantee. This guarantee conforms to our definition of authenticity and is valid for one year from the date the certificate is issued.
