The Perfect All-Rounder: Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra

With its Seamaster Aqua Terra, Omega has achieved the perfect combination of sportiness and elegance. The result is a watch that can go anywhere with you and that you technically never have to take off again. The domed bezel and minimalist design of the case make for a strong, sporty look, while the polished center links of the bracelet exude sophistication. That means the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra looks just as good with jeans and a T-shirt as it does with a suit. The perfectly executed design is accompanied by technology that offers everything you could wish for from a modern timepiece. The METAS-certified automatic movement with its Co-Axial caliber offers an excellent 60-hour power reserve and runs extremely accurately with a deviation between 0 to +7 seconds per day. One of the most impressive features of the METAS movement is its anti-magnetism: the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra can withstand magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. The practical date function at 6 o’clock and water resistance up to 150 m (15 bar, 492 ft) perfectly round out the technical package. The Aqua Terra offers an additional visual treat with its sapphire crystal case back through which you can admire the automatic movement ticking away. However, the real star of the Omega Aqua Terra is the “teak” dial inspired by the deck planks of a luxurious yacht. The sunburst effect and the broad horizontal lines create breathtaking, delightful plays of light, especially on a sunny day.

The variety Omega offers with its Aqua Terra series will also delight you. Whether you prefer dark, light, or even colorful dials, you’re bound to find what you’re looking for because this Omega all-rounder comes in countless dial variations. And if a 41-mm diameter is too big for you, there’s also a smaller 38-mm version. Omega has recently added even more dials to its smaller Aqua Terra; while this 2022 newcomer forgoes the beautiful teak dial, it more than makes up for it with its breathtaking and colorful sunburst dials, which no doubt will captivate the watch world. Meanwhile, the market price of the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra is already creating a buzz among watch enthusiasts. You can add this fantastic all-rounder to your collection for less than $5,000.

One of the most exciting diving watches of our time: Omega Seamaster Diver 300M

The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M is probably the most famous watch from the Omega Seamaster collection. This Omega icon is one of the most popular and exciting diving watches of our time – in some respects, it even makes the famous Rolex Submariner look outdated. Like the Seamaster Aqua Terra, Omega’s diving watch has a wonderful, unique design that boasts impressive technology and an unbeatable cost-performance ratio. In my opinion, the best feature of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M is the dial’s wave design. Crafted in ceramic and laser-etched with waves, the dial is by far the most original in the watch world. But the watch offers more than just a pretty face: its water resistance to 300 meters (30 bar, 984 ft), date complication, and sapphire crystal case back showing off the movement inside are enough to form a solid package in and of themselves. Not content with stopping there, though, Omega takes it one step further: as with the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, the METAS-certified Co-Axial movement that beats at the heart of the 300M is not only extremely accurate, but also anti-magnetic up to 15,000 gauss. And when it comes to water resistance, Omega sends a strong message to its competitors: while most brands merely subject their watches to a pressure test made to simulate the depth indicated on the dial, Omega actually submerges its iconic diving watch to a depth of 984 feet of water.

Best of all, as with the Seamaster Aqua Terra, Omega prioritizes variety in its Seamaster Diver 300M, offering enough color variations to satisfy any diving watch fan. Personally, I’m very partial to the version featuring a white dial and black ceramic bezel. There’s still however some room for improvement when it comes to the bezel action, which doesn’t feel nearly as great as the haptics of a Tudor Black Bay or even a Rolex Submariner. Otherwise, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M is beyond reproach. This watch, especially on a rubber strap, is one of the most attractive and exciting diving watches on the market (for my part, I’m happy to do without the bracelet extension for diving that comes with the steel bracelet). Starting at under $5,000, the Omega icon also has an extremely attractive market price.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is another Omega diving watch, most similar to the Rolex Sea-Dweller. The size and features of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean already give you the first indication that this watch is slightly more professional, best paired with a swimsuit and wetsuit than with an everyday wardrobe. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is a sporty, quintessential diving watch. While its general design is more traditional and less innovative than the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M, it is no less elaborate: all logos, lettering, indices, and hands are masterfully finished. These details and the dial leave nothing to be desired. The 43.5-mm case size, on the other hand, may not be for everyone and is more suitable for larger wrists. The diving scale of the ceramic bezel is crafted from a scratch-resistant alloy of metals including titanium, zirconium, and copper called Liquidmetal®. The bracelet features an Omega-patented extension for diving that allows for quick adjustment. The METAS-certified Co-Axial 8900 caliber offers a 60-hour power reserve, a date function at the traditional 3 o’clock position, and anti-magnetism up to 15,000 gauss. Typical for Omega timepieces, you can also admire the movement through a sapphire crystal case back. Water resistant to 600 meters (60 bar, 1,969 ft), the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean is perfectly designed to meet the needs of professional divers. Given the numerous innovations and sophisticated technology packed into this diving watch, it’s a wonder that you can purchase it on the open market starting at less than $5,000.

Once again, Omega offers an extremely large selection of dial and bezel colors for the Seamaster Planet Ocean series. I find the recently introduced Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Ultra Deep to be particularly well-executed. While this watch is also available in several colors, I can’t get the black-blue version out of my head. The color is strikingly reminiscent of the Rolex Sea-Dweller Deep Sea, but it still stands out on its own design merits. The 45.5-mm diameter makes this watch unsuitable for everyday use, but the built-in technology and the incredible water resistance to 6,000 m (600 bar, 19,685 ft) will simply take the breath away from any diving watch fan. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean has always been a rather underrated watch, but the new Ultra Deep could make waves in the watch world – despite a list price of over $10,200 that will likely put it out of reach for some diving watch enthusiasts.
