Porsche Design has been the official timekeeper of the Ennstal Classic rally for several years running. The ca. 620-mile classic car rally has been taking place in the Austrian Alps since 1993. It attracts several hundred racing teams each year and is wildly popular among classic car fans. This year, Hans-Joachim “Strietzel“ Stuck took part with his Porsche 911 F. However, the former Formula 1 driver, acting president of the German Motor Sport Federation, and Porsche Design brand ambassador didn’t just attend for the fresh Alpine air: He also introduced a new chronograph specially designed for the Ennstal Classic from the brand’s custom-built timepieces series.
A Porsche on your wrist: The new Chronograph for the Ennstal Classic
The model’s case – like many Porsche Design watches – is made of black-coated titanium. The dial and bezel are likewise black, while the hands and indices are white, ensuring perfect legibility even in speedy conditions. Porsche Design opted for a bright red tone for the bracelet and outer dial ring – what color is better suited for a watch inspired by fast sports cars? The bracelet is made of the same leather you’ll find in the interior of Porsche’s finest automobiles.
Another highlight is the caliber WERK 01.100, which shares aesthetics with Carrera Exclusive Design wheels, including the iconic Porsche logo. The movement is based on the Valjoux 7750 and was developed in partnership with mechanical specialist Concepto. It is COSC-certified and offers hour and minute counters, as well as a small seconds and date display.
The custom-built Ennstal Classic chronograph comes in a special box complete with the Ennstal Classic plaque and has a list price of €7,850 (approx. $9,300).
