Not over, not under – NOMOS timepieces are perfectly balanced. Each line, each angle is patiently considered, worked, and then reworked. The curve of the case, the position of the crown, the slender lugs; created by the graphic designer Susanne Günther, the multiple-award winning Tangente 38 is the essence of NOMOS Glashütte.
The NOMOS Tangente 38 combines pared-down elegance with high-performance inside of a 37.5 mm stainless steel case. The galvanized dial is white silver-plated; to contrast this, two fine steel blue hands point to Bauhaus numerals and indices. Sealing everything in place is a polished sapphire crystal glass. The only thing harder than this material is a diamond. Finally, the anti-reflective coating ensures easy legibility in multiple conditions, making this timepiece the ideal companion.
A perfect fit from the first day. For the strap, the Berlin based NOMOS design team choose Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan leather in black. It’s possible that nothing feels better on a wrist. It’s also naturally supple—so there’s no need to break it in. This longwearing material is brought directly from the manufacturers in Chicago. To finish, a classic steel clasp fastens the straps together.
The NOMOS Tangente 38—Keeping Complications Simple
NOMOS likes to keep things simple. The Tangente 38 doesn’t charm with bells and whistles. Located at 6 o’clock, the decentralized seconds dial does what NOMOS watches do best: provide unbeatable timekeeping. What could be more charming than that? This small subsidiary dial features a motif of softly engraved concentric circles that embodies the well-rounded design of the Tangente 38.
Alpha: the Caliber of the Tangente 38
The biggest movement in the finest proportions. When NOMOS designs a timepiece, they plan each thousandth of a millimeter. That’s why the Tangente 38 is just 6.75 mm thick. It may look simple, but it gets complicated on the inside. The NOMOS Alpha is the oldest and most popular caliber. When fully-wound, this mechanical masterpiece keeps on ticking for 43 hours.
Through the sapphire crystal glass back, this watch displays the rhodium-plated Alpha movement with Glashütte ribbing and NOMOS perlage. Composed of rubies and polished, tempered blue screws, the owner of the Tangente 38 is able to admire the intricate workings within. It’s almost as beautiful as the watch face—almost.
