Tudor Grantour – a Modern Line of Sports Watches
The Tudor Grantour watch collection is geared toward fans of motorsport. It is composed of three models, the highlight of which is the Tudor Grantour Fly-Back. As its name suggests, this watch includes a flyback chronograph that you can use to measure times of up to an hour. The ETA-based caliber 2892 is responsible for precise timekeeping. In addition to its flyback chronograph module, it also has a 42-hour power reserve and is meticulously finished by Tudor. If you prefer bicolor watches, take a look at the version made of stainless steel and gold. In addition to this model, the Swiss manufacturer and Rolex daughter company also produces the Grantour Chrono with stopwatch functionality and the Grantour Date with three hands and a date display.
In keeping with modern trends, all three models have cases that are 42 mm in diameter. As a whole, the design of the Tudor Grantour comes across as simple and modern, though it also includes a few retro touches. For example, the dial design is reminiscent of motorsport watches from the 70s. Chronographs from TAG Heuer were particularly popular among the stars of the 1970s racing scene. That being said, Tudor also used to offer diverse and colorful chronographs that are now being reissued and reimagined in the Heritage Chrono series. Perforated leather bands underscore the racing and vintage feel of the Grantour even further. The minute scale around the edge of the dial allows for measuring time in increments of fractions of a second. Finally, with a water resistance of 150 m (15 bar), this luxury watch is also suitable for swimming.

Detailed Price Information
A pre-owned top model Tudor Grantour Fly-Back with the reference number 20550N costs around 2,300 euros, while a model in mint-condition costs about 3,000 euros. As far as flyback chronographs go, these watches are relatively reasonably priced. A TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 36 with a flyback chronograph costs almost 4,000 euros pre-owned and 5,300 euros new. You'll need around 4,200 euros for a pre-owned bicolor Grantour Fly-back with the reference number 20551N. The same steel and gold model costs approximately 4,500 euros in mint condition.
You can buy a pre-owned Tudor Grantour Chrono for about 2,400 euros. New models cost 2,600 euros. The three-hand Grantour Date is especially affordable with prices around 1,900 euros for watches in mint condition. The value of these three Tudor models has remained relatively stable over the last five years. While they may not be worth buying as investments, they certainly aren't wasted purchases. If you're in the market for a watch that might appreciate in value, take a look at the Tudor Submariner or the chronographs from the Prince Oysterdate series. These vintage models have experienced major price increases over the last 20 years. Today, they are often more expensive than current Tudor watches with in-house calibers, such as the diving watches in the Black Bay series.
Models in the Tudor Grantour Series
Watches with flyback functions are markedly more rare and expensive than normal chronographs. The advantage of this mechanism is that stopping, resetting, and restarting the chronograph is all achieved with the push of a button. Normal chronographs require three pushes to accomplish the same thing.
The Tudor Grantour Fly-Back features two subdials: a small seconds dial at 9 o'clock and a 60-minute counter at 3 o'clock. The small red hands and the red area between 40 and 60 seconds on the small seconds dial are particularly striking. These splashes of color match the red "GRANTOUR" inscription above 6 o'clock and the red tip of the stopwatch hand. The edge of the dial with a minute scale also contrasts with the rest of the dial, which comes in black, silver, or white. Tudor utilizes indices for the hour markers in every model. To make telling the time easier, the fixed bezel includes a 12-hour scale. Luminous material on the hands and indices make it possible to read the time in the dark. A date display at 6 o'clock rounds out the functions of the Tudor Grantour Fly-Back.
The Grantour Chrono also possesses a date display located between 4 and 5 o'clock. The ETA/Valjoux-based caliber 7753 has a power reserve of 46 hours. Tudor opted for a longer date display that stretches the full length between the indices. This results in three numbers being shown at the same time. An additional red triangle helps to determine the current date. The "GRANTOUR" inscription, the tip of the stopwatch hand, the area between 40 and 60 on the small seconds dial, and the hands on the subdials are also red. There are three subdials: a small seconds dial at 9 o'clock, a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, and a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock. The dial of this stainless steel watch comes in black, white, or silver. In terms of a band, you have the choice between a three-piece link bracelet or one of two leather bands with different sized perforations.
A Three-Hand Watch with a Date Display
Those who prefer a more tidy dial and can do without a chronograph function will find their perfect sports watch in the Tudor Grantour Date. This three-hand watch has a date display at 3 o'clock and features the same design elements as the chronograph models. A black or white edge surrounds the white or black dial, making for a stunning contrast. Tudor added the words "ROTOR" and "SELF-WINDING" beneath the "GRANTOUR" inscription at 6 o'clock. To power the watch, the Genevan manufacturer chose the caliber 2824 based on an ETA movement. It has a 38-hour power reserve.
