Description |
Omega's now-iconic Seamaster began as a simple time-only dress watch with a modest (for modern standards) water resistance rating.
It was not until the 1950s when Omega, alongside its contemporaries Rolex and Blancpain, decided to release a dedicated diver's tool watch complete with a rotating bezel for timing underwater movements. In 1957, Omega released a trio of "Professional" watches - the Speedmaster, Seamaster, and Railmaster. All three would be continuously developed into distinct lines, with many variations in dial, case and movement designs. In 1995, the Omega Seamaster took over from the Rolex Submariner as the official watch of James Bond. Since then, every James Bond movie has featured an Omega on the spy's wrist. The most modern Seamasters feature a scratch-resistant ceramic bezel, paired with a gloss dial. Unlike the previous generation's aluminium bezels, these inserts don't pick up scratches nor do their colours fade with exposure to sunlight and time. These features bring the Seamaster into the 21st Century, making for a perfect everyday luxury watch. |

2. Certification by verified watchmakers
Before you receive your watch, it will be checked and certified by a verified watchmaker. Among other things, the watchmaker checks whether your watch matches the listing information and whether it complies with our definition of authenticity.
3. Receive your watch and digital certificate of authenticity
After successful certification, you can rest assured your new watch is genuine. This is confirmed by a certificate of authenticity, which you can access digitally after receiving your watch.
If you purchase from a private seller, we will hold the purchase amount in our escrow account for 7 days after you receive your watch. Please note, however, that private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
Certified is our new certification service whereby verified watchmakers check and certify the authenticity of watches to provide customers on our marketplace with a worry-free buying experience. After successful certification, you'll receive a digital certificate of authenticity that confirms the watch meets our definition of authenticity and matches the information in the listing. Certified watches come with a three-year authenticity guarantee. See also: How is the watch checked?
If you've selected a watch with Certified as an optional add-on, you can book certification for an additional charge of £249. In this case, the watch will be checked by one of our in-house watchmakers before being shipped to you. See also: What's included in Certified Optional?
If you book certification for a watch that is not already certified, you pay the purchase price of the watch plus an additional £249 for certification. We will only issue an invoice for the certification if you expressly request one.
The check includes the following:
Authenticity check: We check both the exterior and interior of the watch against our definition of authenticity. See also: How do we define authenticity?
Condition check: We check whether the condition of the watch matches the information in the listing, including the complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See also: How do we define authenticity?

Stolen watch check: We check whether the watch's serial number is listed in the leading stolen watches databases. This ensures that there are no thefts reported for the serial number.
Private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
