Description |
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II 16570. 40mm steel casing, housing an automatic, self-winding calibre 3185 movement: 31 jewels, a power reserve of 50 hours. Water resistant to 100 meters. Featuring a white dial, with black outline, applied luminous index hour markers and luminous hours, minutes and seconds hands for chromalight display. Featuring a red, luminous tipped arrow hand. Steel, 24 hour graduated bezel for GMT function. A date window at the 3 o’clock position. Upon a steel oyster bracelet, with a folding clasp. Box and papers dated 2004, service papers dated April 2023.
The Rolex Explorer II “polar” has a storied history dating back to its introduction in 1971. Initially designed for cave explorers and individuals working in challenging environments, the Explorer II featured a 24-hour hand and fixed bezel for tracking a second time zone. The iconic “polar” version, distinguished by its white dial, was introduced later to enhance legibility, particularly in low-light conditions. The original reference 1655 paved the way for subsequent models, with improvements such as the upgraded Caliber 3085 movement in the 1985 reference 16550. The modern Explorer II, represented by the reference 226570 since 2021, continues the legacy with a 42mm case, the Caliber 3285 movement, and a design that seamlessly blends rugged functionality with timeless elegance. |

Do you have any questions?
Certified watches can be identified by the green "C" icon in the search results and in the listing. You can also filter search results to only view Certified watches. On the listing page, you can see whether Certified is already included or whether it's an optional add-on to your purchase. See also: What's the difference between Certified Included and Certified Optional?
2. Certification by verified watchmakers
Before you receive your watch, it will be checked and certified by a verified watchmaker. Among other things, the watchmaker checks whether your watch matches the listing information and whether it complies with our definition of authenticity.
3. Receive your watch and digital certificate of authenticity
After successful certification, you can rest assured your new watch is genuine. This is confirmed by a certificate of authenticity, which you can access digitally after receiving your watch.
If you purchase from a private seller, we will hold the purchase amount in our escrow account for 7 days after you receive your watch. Please note, however, that private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
Certified is our new certification service whereby verified watchmakers check and certify the authenticity of watches to provide customers on our marketplace with a worry-free buying experience. After successful certification, you'll receive a digital certificate of authenticity that confirms the watch meets our definition of authenticity and matches the information in the listing. Certified watches come with a three-year authenticity guarantee. See also: How is the watch checked?
If you've selected a watch with Certified as an optional add-on, you can book certification for an additional charge of £249. In this case, the watch will be checked by one of our in-house watchmakers before being shipped to you. See also: What's included in Certified Optional?
If you book certification for a watch that is not already certified, you pay the purchase price of the watch plus an additional £249 for certification. We will only issue an invoice for the certification if you expressly request one.
The check includes the following:
Authenticity check: We check both the exterior and interior of the watch against our definition of authenticity. See also: How do we define authenticity?
Condition check: We check whether the condition of the watch matches the information in the listing, including the complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See also: How do we define authenticity?
Scope of delivery check: All additional items, e.g., original box and papers, are checked for completeness and accordance with the model reference.
Stolen watch check: We check whether the watch's serial number is listed in the leading stolen watches databases. This ensures that there are no thefts reported for the serial number.
Private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
