Description |
We are proud to present this iconic and collectable Rolex Submariner Date Transitional watch for sale.
The Rolex Submariner is easily recognised as one of Rolex`s most famous designs and is considered the benchmark in quality for diving watches. A perfect blend of functionality and style, the submariner sits on the wrist in any scenario whether smart or casual. In the early 1980’s with the advance in materials manufacture, Rolex decided to fit its most iconic sports watch, for the first time with a sapphire crystal glass and to change the dial print to reflect its additional water resistance 300M. It was also fitted with the calibre 3035 automatic movement increasing the beats per hour and adding a quick date change function to the date feature. After 1983 Rolex changed from the matte dials to the more familiar glossy black dial with white gold edging for the hour markers. This version, the reference 16800 comes set in the classic 40mm stainless steel Oyster case with pin-hole lugs and is fitted with a uni-rotational bezel with a black insert. The watch has its original black (almost grey) matte dial with creamy-aged hour markers, date feature at 3 o’clock and fitted with a sapphire crystal glass with cyclops lens. Powered by the Rolex calibre 3035 automatic self-winding mechanism and fitted on its original stainless steel Oyster link bracelet with a folding Oysterlock clasp with safety catch. Originally purchased in January 1988 and in fine condition wit a light mark on the bracelet. This Submariner Date comes with a Rolex green service pouch, plastic warranty holder, original sales receipt and original perforated warranty paperwork. This watch was serviced by Rolex in July 2022 and falls under the manufacturers warranty until 2024. This would be a great piece for any Rolex collection. Do you have any questions?
Certified watches can be identified by the green "C" icon in the search results and in the listing. You can also filter search results to only view Certified watches. On the listing page, you can see whether Certified is already included or whether it's an optional add-on to your purchase. See also: What's the difference between Certified Included and Certified Optional?
2. Certification by verified watchmakers
Before you receive your watch, it will be checked and certified by a verified watchmaker. Among other things, the watchmaker checks whether your watch matches the listing information and whether it complies with our definition of authenticity.
3. Receive your watch and digital certificate of authenticity
After successful certification, you can rest assured your new watch is genuine. This is confirmed by a certificate of authenticity, which you can access digitally after receiving your watch.
If you purchase from a private seller, we will hold the purchase amount in our escrow account for 7 days after you receive your watch. Please note, however, that private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
Certified is our new certification service whereby verified watchmakers check and certify the authenticity of watches to provide customers on our marketplace with a worry-free buying experience. After successful certification, you'll receive a digital certificate of authenticity that confirms the watch meets our definition of authenticity and matches the information in the listing. Certified watches come with a three-year authenticity guarantee. See also: How is the watch checked?
If you've selected a watch with Certified as an optional add-on, you can book certification for an additional charge of £249. In this case, the watch will be checked by one of our in-house watchmakers before being shipped to you. See also: What's included in Certified Optional?
If you book certification for a watch that is not already certified, you pay the purchase price of the watch plus an additional £249 for certification. We will only issue an invoice for the certification if you expressly request one.
The check includes the following:
Authenticity check: We check both the exterior and interior of the watch against our definition of authenticity. See also: How do we define authenticity?
Condition check: We check whether the condition of the watch matches the information in the listing, including the complications, winding mechanism, chronograph function, and more. See also: How do we define authenticity?
Scope of delivery check: All additional items, e.g., original box and papers, are checked for completeness and accordance with the model reference.
Stolen watch check: We check whether the watch's serial number is listed in the leading stolen watches databases. This ensures that there are no thefts reported for the serial number.
Private sellers are not legally mandated to accept returns.
